About Grace Industries, Inc. Grace Industries, Inc. is the parent company of Grace Sales, Inc., and is a family owned business incorporated in October 1974. They are located sixty miles north of Pittsburgh, in Fredonia, Pennsylvania. Mr. James Campman, founder and President of Grace Industries, Inc. is an electrical engineer who previously worked with Bell Labs and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The Grace hydrocarbon detector set the standard in gas detection equipment used in arson detection in major fire departments throughout the nation. To accomplish this goal, Mr. Campman invented technology which led to the development of the SUPERPASSTM. The company was approached by fire service leaders and asked to develop technology to solve the problem of personnel accountability. In response to this request, Mr. Campman integrated a spread spectrum radio telemetry signal into the PASS device, and the GEM SystemTM was born. This device not only provides the loudest audible alarm when the wearer becomes motionless, but also transmits a signal to a remote receiver indicating that a firefighter is in trouble. After four and one half years and two million dollars in research and development costs, the GEM SystemTM is now available on the market in both one-way and two-way signaling configurations. This state of the art technology is the single largest quantum leap in personnel safety and accountability since self contained breathing apparatus was introduced in the fire/rescue service. This advanced life-safety system provides immediate notification of firefighters in distress AND provides a means to send an evacuation signal to firefighters when conditions deteriorate. After September 11, 2001, development of a two-way signaling PASS system became a priority. All other R & D projects were moved to the back burner. The result of this effort was the introduction of the T PASS 3 EvacuateTM, which offers command officers, correctional officers, security and industrial personnel the means to send an Evacuate or Call Back signal to all operational at the incident scene of work site.
